This course offers a unique insight into this international struggle from Agent McManus, who has been on the front lines, behind the scenes, and undercover in this global conflict for many years. It will open your eyes to how and why drug trafficking takes place.
The financial implications of this problem are astonishing. In 2007, approximately 19 million Americans were illicit drug users. The resulting $161 billion in social costs attributed to drug abuse is equivalent to 16% of all individual income taxes paid to the Federal government that year. In addition to the $161 billion burden on society, Americans spent $64 billion to buy illegal drugs, an amount larger than one year’s combined revenues of the four largest food giants in the Fortune 500: ConAgra ($25.4 billion), Sara Lee ($20.4 billion), H.J. Heinz ($9.4 billion), and Kellogg ($7billion).
In this revealing narrative, you will follow the path of illegal drugs from the cocaine labs in South America, through the transit zones of Central America, to the streets of U.S. cities. You’ll see how the money flows back to some of the wealthiest criminals in the world. And you will understand that, no matter how far removed from drugs you might think you are; this situation can impact you personally and financially. contact us
